Safety Cautions

This discussion provides an invention that drastically modifies wind loads and insulation, and increase ventilation.

Consult inventor for insight of wind load and vibration, fire initiation, control and containment.

Concisely

Solutions for any problems must be holistic on top of being effective, efficient, economical and better elegant.
This writing wishes to share the possibility of such solutions for the sad accidents.

As Singaporeans, we expressed our deepest sympathy to the families of the fallen maids.
We owe the President and People of Indonesia something money cannot repay.

As Engineers, Consultants, we know words, even words utter with most moving expressions are feeble.
We wish to share a solution that can fundamentally resolve this long existing issue.

For the solution to be self-propagating rapidly, it must not just resolve maid falling. It must provide economic viability and must serve the functions safely.

The solution proposed provides building design that not merely removes hazards fundamentally, it will also stand earth quake stronger, reduce casualties by removing heavy brick and cements. This also facilitates recovery of the buried and eases post -quake constructions.

The solution also improves the comfort, economy and aesthetics of buildings.
It makes construction a safer, less strenuous job. It also opens immense market for agro-waste that will assist in mitigating world rural poverty.

Creating new industries resolved the concern raised by former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohammed. He raised the concern about the stagnated Iskandar Industrial Parks on 12 October 2009 at the Marriot Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Growth, Innovation, Leadership Conference by Frost and Sullivan.

Appreciation

We express our gratitude to PLA General Chu CH for bringing solutions to China, assisting in solving housing for the masses, and reducing massive housing speculation.

We express our gratitude to former and current High Commissioners of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ms Fauzia Sana(now with Prime Minister office) and Mr Syed Hasan Javed, former and current Press Counselor Samina Parvez Khalid (now Director General at External Publicity Wing ) and Samina Waqar respectively. Their deep insight of harsh continental climate in earth quake frequent zone, give this invention the added importance. They are exemplary in performing diplomatic and information roles in a globalized world.

We express gratitude to top architects of Singapore, who shared their expertise, experiences and current realm of thinking in building design. Their names shall be disclosed when the Singapore government come to recognize merits in Singaporeans’ designs and inventions.

We express gratitude to Prof Jamel Akba, College of Architecture & Planning, King Faisal University, Fritz Oettl of pos Architecture who designed the Embassy of Austria in Jakarta, Prof  Dr. Surjamanto W., Head of Building Technology Research Group SAPPK - ITB Bandung, Indonesia for many enlightening discussion which encourages me.

Can Safety Be Absolute ?

The issues of falling maids were due to cleaning of windows in high rise buildings, hanging of laundry out of high rise windows. These are easily identifiable.

It is heartwarming to see that employer took special care of her employee’s safety. (shown in Straits Time report on May 1, 2012 below.) However, media and ministries need to immediately assist her from anchoring the belt on very flimsy window grills.

These did not include fallen windows, and fallen air-conditioners hanging on external walls. These will become real concerns as windows and air-conditioners aged.

These are totally different aspects, so can safety be absolute?
Safety, indeed, can be absolute if we perform these functions by locating these windows and air-conditioners in absolutely safe location.

Can we find such safe location?
Yes, we can.  We can easily attain such functional safety, but buildings are designed by architects, where forms, aesthetics are their foci.

Current building codes architects comply with are almost only about structure and fire safety.

We must first provide solution that the forms are  aesthetically exciting, in order to motivate architects to design safe buildings.

Can Beautiful Forms be Safe also ?

Singapore, like many nations, invested tremendously to improve the aesthetics of buildings, even at great cost to land, constructions, construction materials, weight of buildings, energy and clean water intense cement.

Willing to sacrifice so much for aesthetics, sacrificing functions and safety are inevitable.

For the purpose of aesthetics, sacrificing functions and safety are inevitable until we can provide beautiful form and hide all the unsightly - Pipes, laundries, air-conditioners, etc are hidden in the recesses in the above new design flats.

This has been the debate between designers and engineers -  Form or Function, which has the higher priority ?

As engineers and industrial designers, it is quite obvious they can be satisfied together quite easily.

What we need are three breakthroughs, which actually come from common sense:
1.     What we want to hide is from peoples’ visions whereby people are earth bound.
2.     What we want to expose are to the natural sun which is from the sky.
3.     The two have very different angles and can be well-defined.

After seeing architects struggling to meet both forms and functions.
A patent that qualify and quantify key parameters was filed. It was filed as Expand Exposure Full Concealment (EEFC, 20090808 IPOS 200805898-4) with fresh diploma holder, Leung Chi Lam, who recently enter a top UK college in Architecture.

With this we can even totally remove windows, while laundries, pipes, air-conditioners are hidden within a vacuity.

Much Bigger Economic Benefits

Patent Filed invention Expand Exposure Full Concealment (EEFC) provides the options to fundamentally remove external windows while
  1. Expand exposure of laundry to sun, while protect from rain which current solutions cannot.
  2. Concealing important functions e.g. pipes, machineries, utilities, yet easily accessible for maintenance and expansion.
  3. Fundamentally remove inter-floor penetration of pipes.
  4. Guiding wind therefore reducing wind loads.
  5.  Improving insulation.
  6. Improving harnessing of solar heat, light, waste heat, wind and concentrating them enough for low voltage power generations.
  7. Removing external wall seepage.
  8.  Reducing the strength needed for non-structural elements.
  9.  Enlarging application of low strength materials that can be made from agro waste fibers.
  10. Such panels will have higher damping, so mitigating earth quake damages, vibration by passing by subway train and surface traffic noise.  Such panels are light, reducing chances of collapse and injuries due to earth quake.
  11.   Facilitating post-disaster evacuation of victims and speeding up reconstructions.
  12. Opening huge market to agro waste and reducing rural poverty.
  13. Reducing static weight of buildings.
  14. Expanding column distance.
  15. Enabling buildings to become easily configurable.
  16. Providing high immediate and future values.
  17. Providing lower barrier for building and urban rejuvenation.
  18. Opening up a new market for the wealthy to frequently change the panel and the poor find abundant supply of used panels for their home. It can be a proliferation of the famous LaBoca of Buenos Aeries. (photo: courtesy of Jacek Kadaj, Warsaw, Poland)

Pragmatic Ambitions

This reminds us of JFK inaugural speech:
If a free society cannot help the many who are poor.
It cannot save the few who are rich.

My student, Dr Li Zhong Qi, pointed out this call is double negative and hollow .
We need directions with profitable solutions.

She proposed:
By creating better jobs for more, the richest becomes richer
By housing all, the rich and powerful secure peace for their wives, daughters and old age.

We come to share not as first-world Singaporeans, but humbly atoning the harms and sorrow we inflicted on you.
We remain silent while offering our best in writing, inventions and designs.

20120502 Singaporeans Incapable to Integrate Foreigners

20120502 Singaporeans Incapable to Integrate Foreigners
http://bettersingapore.blogspot.com/2012/05/20120502-singaporeans-incapable-to.html

Concisely

Who like to be associated with a failed policies.
All Leaders, look for the head goat, before you speak out to support any policy.

Proven Ignorant

Singapore political leaders seemed to be ignorant.

I heard a General spoke "Singaporeans lack of certain skills and capabilities."
Freely spoken without specifying what we lack of
This fits tabloids, not mass media, not main streams, cannot become a policy.
As far as an aerospace engineer participated and witnessed Singapore's progress, there is no skills Singaporeans cannot be trained, be skillful, be successful in.

More AND New?

I heard "we want more, new migrants".
So the key is NEW MIGRANTS, regardless of their skills, characters, never mind about the real needs of Singapore.

So  we see migrants who came here ten years ago was left by the road side:
  1. PhD Biotech researcher driving taxi,
  2. Computer programmers become prata sellers, worse unemployed.

Leaders set Counter Example

Now we heard "We must help foreigners to integrate into our society"

Even LKY School of Public Policies are headed by many foreigners, tailed by foreign graduates running slide projectors and sound systems.
Seeing the stark lack of domain knowledge of some of the heads, so i wrote my applications, even met some faculties, eventually it falls into silence.

When even this Singaporean employer, supposedly promoting stories of Singapore's  success do not employ Singaporeans, cultivate Singaporeans.

What about the rest of organizations, entities, who are now managed by foreigners?

First Social Experiment in History

Singapore become the first social experiment of mankind, where active effort, immense wealth is dumped into cultivating foreigners, stifling the employment of Singaporeans, never mind about cultivating, nourishing Singaporeans, constructing Singapore.

This is a social experiment never happen in history, neither tyrant nor idiotic leaders attempted this.

Last Great Success

Cultivating, nourishing Singaporeans as Goh Keng Swee did, resulting in celebrated role models like J Y Pillay, Ngiam Tong Dow, Philip Yeo and the like drove Singapore to overwhelming success.

When Singaporeans are
prohibited eliminated from participating in this nation's construction, the calling for Singaporeans to assist in integrating Foreigners is ignorant, if not a show of hollow out of awareness in Singapore leaders.

Without awareness of realities, even super-human intelligence is faulty, never become wisdom that is applicable - without wisdom, can any path be chosen correctly?

Easy Litmus Test

Actually, it is very easy to know if this policy is a good policy.
We just ask our Prime Minister who proposed, initiated this policy:

Why this Test definitely Accurate

By looking at the following, who will say Singapore Biotech will be a success?

Lee Kuan Yew has stated the following on biotech:
"This issue has been deliberated over a period of several months in Cabinet and decided by PM Goh and cabinet. The policy has been continued by PM Lee and his cabinet. We have made significant investments in time and resources. We have to get the most out of what we have put in."
Chen Huifen (15 March 2007). "Singapore to push ahead with Biomed". Business Times.

Basic Human Nature

Who like to be associated with a failed policies.
All Leaders, look for the head goat, before you speak out to support any policy.

Conclusion

No conclusion is needed by this writer, anyone who is self-interested knows what to do, what not to support, even say.

I do not believe self-less person person exist.

20120501 PM must step beyond Burden and Subsidies

20120501 PM must step beyond Burden and Subsidies
http://bettersingapore.blogspot.com/2012/05/20120501-pm-must-step-beyond-burden-and.html

Concisely

Casinos depleting our social chaste, and breaking many families, brutally took away a few lives .......
After sacrificing the most precious of a society, yet we are not fully employed for high pay jobs?

Without real valuable exports, how an export dependent economy survives?
Even survival is doubtful, where are we going to find real money to subsidize?

Even Skilled, Professionals, Managers are retrenched enmass, how can productivity be improved by 50%?

So the key for the Prime Minister is not to say the lower rung cannot have pay rise to meet their living needs.
The duty for the Prime Minister is to step out of this Burdening and Subsidizing mode of governance.

Solutions have been progressively hand delivered to PM, founder....when crises starting to form in 2001, a decade to prepare, to act, to mitigate, to profit from.... yet did we?
Some publishable can be found in this blog.

Our PM

Our PM is a more sincere person, a less crafty politician.
He is responding to the situations, and exercise the best he could.

When opposition placed public housing price at medium income, without regards for bottom half of the population.

Government is wiser, place it at lowest income, even specified at $1,000.
He is a commendable leader.
We are subjected to world willing to pay for our services
$1,000 is world willing to pay for low level jobs as shared with leaders last April

All Encompassing Burdens

All of us, from taxi drivers to MNCs, know, that our housing, rental, transport, utilities having sky rocketing.
It makes our salaries and operations cannot compete with the world - Burdening Singapore enterprises, striping Singaporeans of good jobs.

So we importing cheap labors, massive, so our housing, transport, schools overloaded - burdening our infrastructure.

ERP, COE, Utilities keep rising - Burdening our operations.

So as first world, we imported massive, nicely titled, many highly paid yet irrelevant, officers, researchers, scholars...
  1. Economist without knowledge of energy leading energy research in LKY SPP. She left.
  2. Most institutions run by foreigners, even director of Middle East Institute brought along a secretary. i alerted and a Malaysian is employed..
  3. Resulting in a hollow out of succession, e.g. after Singapore Mercantile Exchange FT CEO quit, there is no successors, neither cultivated nor identifiable.

20110515 Direction 1 : Singapore - Most Efficient Blissful Living (MEBL)

This is manifesting in all key position holders, be it management of capital, infrastructure, operations, research......
Are these investment viable, even not profitable?

Who stated our Investment is Irrelevant

The most important recent jobs when government review Ministers' salary and study flood, did not enlist those who study public policies and water resource at LKY SPP.

Every mishap, the heaviest weight experts from overseas, not even foreigners already employed here are enlisted.
This testify that we are investing in immense measures
yet with little or no relevance
In response to his daughter's comments on biotech,
Lee Kuan Yew has stated the following:
"This issue has been deliberated over a period of several months in Cabinet and decided by PM Goh and cabinet. The policy has been continued by PM Lee and his cabinet. We have made significant investments in time and resources. We have to get the most out of what we have put in."
Chen Huifen (15 March 2007). "Singapore to push ahead with Biomed". Business Times.

Half a decade, 5 years latter, have we succeeded in getting the most out, what attempt we have tried ?

These gave, from our government view, affirmative of how irrelevant the outcome of the massive investment we pour our good money into...
In increasing measures to more and more remote research entities  observing NRF projects.

Why Burden gone Unnoticed

Combining all the above, our economy, nation, society is burdened.

This is burdening not just the lower rung, but all businesses, big tycoon - they cannot afford to pay the bottom to match up with the basic living needs.

Worse, these heavy, complex investment shielded us from seeing what is important to our very survival.
Even Union and Grass Roots leaders did not see it.
We need an academics, an economist to point it out.

Why Subsidies is baseless

Such burdens, all encompassing burden burden our business a lot, burden much more than what productivity can be increased by automation and skill training.

So subsidies in all forms are said to be coming.
The poor neither ask for subsidies nor has the power to demand.
The poor know they are not entitled to freebies.

This nation is not exporter of anything, food, minerals, gases...
Even manufacturing is weakening - are we still the world number one exporter of motors, hardisks?
We already knew the answers, so we have to go against our Founder promise.

We now have casinos, highly profitable, highly taxed Casinos,
So profitable, easy money made that become the first enterprise in history to make 1 Billion ebita in a quarter.

These depleting our social chaste, and breaking many families, brutally took away a few lives .......
After sacrificing the most precious of a society, yet we are not fully employed for high pay jobs?

Without real valuable exports, where are we going to find real money to subsidize?

PM's Duty
